Learning Path

Training pregnant women often leaves an instructor unsure of their exercise choices, especially how the program will be modified per trimester. In this course we look at various precautions and the modifications that you will make to her program per trimester. You will learn about the changes that take place in the woman’s body during this time. This enables you to understand her needs and responses to movement better. You will learn the theory of pregnancy and how you can prepare your classes based on her needs and requests. Learn a full pregnancy program, per trimester and watch and learn as we teach a pregnant client.

Overview

This course is to give you, the professional, a deeper understanding of how to set up a comprehensive program for a pregnant client per trimester.

You will learn:

  • the physical changes that happen during pregnancy per trimester
  • the hormonal changes and how this affects her training program
  • how to educate your client on her changing posture and what impact this postural change will have on her body
  • the necessary precautions that you need to take
  • diastasis recti
  • safe pregnancy guidelines
  • when you should discontinue exercise
  • a safe exercise program per trimester with the use of assists and modifications
  • comfortable resting positions
  • the common conditions and injuries and how to adapt the program to improve her general wellbeing.
